They used to have a public restroom but no longer do, according to the woman at the desk when I last went there. Might prove to be a problem if you bring kids. But maybe some other staff are more lenient...?
It's much bigger inside than I thought and they have a pretty nice kids section. However, the lady that was at the counter (whom I presume is the owner) doesn't seem like she really wants to help people. My 7 year old and I came in to "just look around" and she never said more than 10 words to us the whole time, even when we actually bought a book. I asked where I could find something and she just pointed in a general direction. Don't expect any great deals, the books are all sold at msrp, but I don't mind that if I can pick it up locally. If the owner were a little more helpful and friendly, it would definitely get a 5 star review because of the location and great selection in the kids section.
They look small from the window but actually have a pretty large interior with a big kids' book room and also some couches for reading. The space is used well and the featured books are displayed creatively -- they always pick interesting stuff. A good feature is the staff picks section. Staff pick out books and leave a small handwritten card describing what they liked about it.
Everybody talks about supporting "small business" -- here is your chance to put your money where your mouth is. This little bookstore is a fantastic little shop that really seems to be active in the community. Their staff are very friendly, happy, and helpful. They can easily order anything that you need if they don't have it in the store. There's even a great section for kids. I'll be stopping by on a regular basis!
The used "lightly loved" book section has good bargains. A big selection overall for a small bookstore and a great personalized feel.
