Such a beautiful spot. My friends and I made plans to spend the Friday before Labor Day renting kayaks and paddling the lake. We called to inquire about boat rentals. we all showed up after taking the day off work to find out that they have closed the boat house and the boat rental facilities on a holiday weekend! there is no notice on their website and they did not tell us when we called. what are we supposed to do now? Who in the world shuts down a public recreational facility on a holiday weekend? On site management offered no solution and states "we do this every year."
I found this lake online and decided to check it out to fly my drone. I was shocked about their $10 non-resident fee on a Tuesday afternoon. The lake/park is gorgeous and offers a lot of things, but apparently drone flying is not permitted. Their signs say the reason is because of FAA, but that's not true because I have the FAA app, B4UFly and this location is not a No Fly Zone. I think they need to be properly educated in regards to drone flying because it's a shame not being able to share such a nice place with people who are willing to pay their ridiculous entrance fee.
Love it here! We've been kayaking three times and hiking twice. By no means is this the Appalachian trail, but it's 5 stars because of the fact that it's a great place of its quality relative to its location and you should go if you live in the area. Hope I said that right! Friendly, pretty and there was even a bald eagle there a while back.
Rented pavilion for company family day. Had an amazing time staff was extremely friendly. Basketball, BBQ, paddle boats/canoes, alcohol allowed when renting pavilion, radio allowed as long as you don't get too loud
Great park! Lots of benches paddle boating nice walking paths and grills. This is a great place for a casual day or a party! One of our favorite destinations in the warmer seasons
